This has been mentioned a few times but I am still confused. I went to the website and found what I needed but............
What does it do/help? How do I download? Is it worth it?
I have a SZ140 with the Nvidia 7400 (I think)
Thanks

i am also interested in this, i downloaded the 8420 i think and installed but had some problems, if anyone has a specific set they installed with the sz120 and the steps they took to install i would be interested in listening to them.. thanks guys.

I have found it really straightforward to install drivers from the above site. I suggest you uninstall your Sony-provided Nvidia driver FIRST. Then, run the setup.exe (if there is one provided) making sure you have downloaded the modified INF file beforehand. Should work well for you. BTW I have tried many of the available drivers and 84.56 is pretty great IMHO. I have gotten a score of 4679 in 3DMark03 with the 84.56 drivers OC'ed to 550/760. Not bad I must say...

EDIT: "labtop... I am such a guud spellar!!" -
driver installed ok but now when I go to play Need For Speed Most Wanted its just a small screen size???? Any ideas on why its not full screen anymore?
-
I tried googling for Labtopvideo2go ,but Google turns up zero results. Labtopvideo2go.com/net/org doesn't exist either. Does anybody know what its URL is?
-
it helps if you spell it laptop not labtop
-
duhh.oops. <runs off and hides behind a door>

From what I've read laptopvideo2go sounds really interesting, so I checked it out and found myself lost. Would anybody mind linking the latest NVIDIA driver update for the SZ? Thanks!
-
They also have a forum with the people who write the modified .infs to answer questions
-
Btw NFS: Most Wanted Runs full screen for meyou just got to get it to change into widescreen...either through the options or through the registry...Google it...thats how I made mine Widescreen
.
-
I must be incompetent. I've scoured the laptopvideo2go forums for new drivers for the SZ140 and can't find anything. sigh.
-
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?drivers
84.56
Then download and save the INF file below that and replace with the one extracted.
Let me know if this doesnt work for you. It worked fine for me but I dont use any tools to measure performance. -
so get the latest one and you will be fine. -
-
Ok I want to see if I got this right. I downloaded 84.56 and then got the INF of 84.43. Then it installed and rebooted. Now the Nvida is showing as a desktop manager. Is that right? Can I delete the extracted file from my desktop now?

I tried installing 84.56 but a screen came up saying "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." Any thoughts on why it may be doing this?

BTW: This driver was put out originally by EVGA and has some enhancements for dual core processors... plus the fact it has Coolbits enabled via the modded INF... And PureVideo hardware MPEG 2 and h.264 acceleration... so I think it's a good choice for the SZ. -
The INF creation is a little vague. Am I to understand that I do the following:
1) Download 8456.exe.
2) Copy this info (below) into a file called modded.inf, and then try and install the file modded.inf:

1.) Download 84.56.exe and extract to 84.56 folder on your desktop.
2.) Right-click on "Modded INF" and "Save Link As" into the 84.56 folder on your desktop. It will ask for permission to replace the "nv4_disp.inf" file. Allow it to do so.
3.) Run Setup.exe and you should be all set.
-Jason -
Did that. and got the "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit" message.
My card is a GeForce Go 7400 on an SZ.
Current contents of nv4_disp.inf are:

Maybe one has to replace the localised strings part with the modded portion of the modded.inf?
; Localizable Strings
NVIDIA = "NVIDIA" -
Why did you edit the INF? Just used the INF that is provided "Already Modded." This will work.
-Jason -
The was no INF provided with this download, except a file called nv4_disp.inf, which doesn't work. (see earlier set-up error)
The modded.inf, is one that I downloaded from the examples page under Laptop-based GO cards;
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9243
I think that I am missing a vital part of the instructions. -
So AFTER you replaced the original INF with the one from the 84.56 thread you were still not able to install the driver? Hmmm... that is odd seeing as the Modded INF removes any restrictions on what type of card is required to install the driver. Can you list in order how you got to where you are currently so that I can try to help?
-
1) Downloaded 8456.exe into C:\Sony Setup\Drivers\Video2\Laptop2go
2) Unzipped into C:\Sony Setup\Drivers\Video2\Laptop2go\8456
3) Tried to run setup.exe - Failed as expected.
4) Created a new file called modded.inf, which contained the entries from Laptop-based GO cards; http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...showtopic=9243
5) Copied modded.inf to file C:\Sony Setup\Drivers\Video2\Laptop2go\8456\nv4_disp.inf, which replaced the original file nv4_disp.inf
6) Ran setup.exe - Failed with error message: "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any..." -
I looked at page
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9617
and the modded INF icon is greyed out. Was there a modded inf file for this to download? -
Check the thread of that specific driver in their message boards, you will find it...I didnt know either (Jason_Thames told me
)
If you cant give me the Driver version you are trying to get, ill find it for you?
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9616 You are trying to get the 64bit ... get the 32 bit INF. -

Ravz beat me to it LOL...
Good Man. -
Thanks Jason, but I owe it to you, I wouldnt have known it unless you had told me earlier today
-
Thanks folks. I knew it had to be something silly like this. Now, how do I spell labtop?
-
Rock! Everything works. Thanks.
-
Do the laptop2go drivers have smartdimmer support?
