I was using the eSATA/USB port earlier on today, with a USB device, and suddenly it stopped working, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me please?, or should I ask for a replacement as I haven't even had the laptop a week, and it was purchased online.

A few questions to help clarify the problem:

    1. What kind of USB device were you using?
    2. Have you tried it successfully in one of the other 2 USB ports?
    3. Have you tried a different USB device in the eSATA port? workie/no workie?

    1. I was using a USB Desktop Shredder.
    2. Yes, I have tried it in the other 2 USB ports and it works fine.
    3. I have tried a USB Drive in the eSATA port and that didn't work either, tested the port using Vaio Care and it reports that there is an error.

Cool. Just wanted to be sure. VAIO Care doesn't have a recommendation? That sucks. :(

Those usb power shredders draw way too much power. The fuse on the usb is blown. Warranty time.

Yer, if you want the port to work again you will have to contact_Sony.
Is there any reason you don't post in the F_series owners thread? Good luck with getting it sorted! Use a mains powered shredder next time .
