    Hello,

I recently purchased a new FE790 with the following DVD option:

    DVD+-R Double layer / DVD+-RW Drive:
The drive is capable of burning to Rewritable DVD media. There are currently two types of Rewriteable DVD technology: DVD-RW and DVD+RW. This drive supports reading and writing of both of these media types.

The driver in device manager appears to reflec that spec, however when I bought a packet of Memorex DVD-R discs, I wasn't able to write anything to them. I tried creating a Data CD with the Sony software provided, I tried dragging files to it, and I tried to create a backup recovery disc using the Windows System tools. Each time I got an error saying something like the drive or share couldn't be written to or permissions weren't sufficient enough.

I also tried to drag and drop some files to a CD-R disc, but also no luck.

What types of discs should I be able to write to? Did I buy the wrong kind? What would be a good test to see if my drive is possibly broken?

    Thanks!
