Hello all, this is my 1st thread on notebookreview.com so I wasn't sure exactly where to post this but here seemed liked the most obvious place... Ok, I have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR660U that I got for free from a client so I upgraded the RAM from 2GB to 4GB and replaced the HDD's with bigger capacity ones. I followed the instructions on this post and installed Windows 7 64-bit and everything came out perfect (thanks hippotek ^^) Anyways, everything works great but when I go into the BIOS, I discovered that most to all the features are locked by default from Sony... I want to unlock them by upgrading the BIOS because I know this notebook is capabile of so much more than what the default BIOS allows you to do. The default Phoenix BIOS version is on the notebook is R1050J8. I found on hippotek's sig a link to different VGN-AR BIOS versions so I used Winphlash (I ran as admin in Vista 32, I did not use 7 64 for the flash) to flash the BIOS to R1050J8F_SLIC21.wph which I found on the link in his sig but even though the flash completed, it didn't do anything to the BIOS... I then tried to flash using R2080J8SLIC21.wph & R2090J8_KIZWAN_SLIC.wph which were also in the link on his sig but to no avail because Vista 32 just freezes up on me everytime... Anyways, please advise. If there is anything I need to do such as post an RW Everything report or something like that, I will be glad to do it but I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this and am in need of advice. Thanks for your time ^^
