I have received, as a gift, a used Vaio laptop. On the back, the model number is listed as PCG-8Q4M. However, when I go to the Sony website to download manual/drivers, Sony does not seem to have any records for that particular model number. The closest it resembles is the VGN- A series which in turn is the same as the PCG-TR series! Sony sure does not make this easy!

I am now looking to sell the laptop on Ebay and want to makes sure I have the right details, so any help would be much appreciated!

That's not the real model number. The real one would be on the bezel around the screen when you open up the notebook. More modern ones all start with a VGN-XXXXXX. That'll be your model.
