Hey guys, today I found out that the shiny encasing piece around the power butten was kind of crooked so I checked it out and it turned out to be broken. Weird because I have never let it fall and treated it very kindly. It's nothing bad as it is just the shiny part around the button that seems to be broken.

I was wondering if you guys could help me find that piece somewhere in the internet, I want to see if I can get it somewhere before having to go back to the sony store and probably have it sent away or something, which would suck really, even more if they make me pay a lot for that little piece.

    Hi

    1) Is that Sony still under warranty, if it is they should not charge you for that little piece.

    2) I'd recommend going back to the Sony store. It is notoriously difficult to get 'design' elements of a laptop - its easier if you want to upgrade the graphics card or CPU for example. But the power button? Erm ... that's a bit tough.

    3) Does the laptop still function well with that broken button?

Yep I bought it a while ago, and yeah ii think it's probablyimpossible to find it. I didn't want totake it to the store because they will probably take it from me for a week or two and I wouldnt like that since I use it for my studies and I'd fall behind or something.

The laptop works perfectly, and there is no damage on the power button, it's just the shiny thing around it.

You might try this site to order parts. I have no idea what the part corresponding to the power button would be called, though. I just see a bunch of brackets and other assorted parts for a Z model I inputted.

I checked the site, but unless I have the model number of the part, there'd be no way of me knowing which one is it. Is there any way of finding out the part number? Hopefully it is one of those that are like 4 bucks.

Haha, yeah, I hope so too. You could always try third-party sites, like spare parts warehouse. They don't have the new models up, but you can call their toll-free number to ask for a part number.
