Just got my new VAIO and need to get rid of all this bloat ware.

I made my recovery discs but need some tips on how to do the reinstallation of a clean or semi-clean vista.

I am trying to use this giude

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=2214930&postcount=1

but when I hit F8 on startup it brings me to a page that I can start windows in safe more, repair computer, etc.

In the write up it sounds like it is supposed to automatically start reinstalling so what am I missing?

I also found this write up for a clean install

Reinstall Original Microsoft Vista 64-bit from the system without the bundled Sony software: (Thanks to reggae4k for the post)
    1) you must create the recovery disks 1-3 (1 & 2 is fine, but you may want all 3 if you choose to reinstall everything back to factory specs).
    2) boot to disk 1
    3) do a full re-installation (will require disk 1 and 2)
    4) let it reinstall vista. when it asks you to removed disk 2 and press ok to restart click ok.
    5) after it reboots, it will ask you for disk 1 again. click cancel.
    6) all drivers are installed except the Intel wifi card. you can get the driver from here [sony.com] (you may want to download and keep this handy before steps 1-6).

but how do you boot to disc 1 to get it all started?

If you create recovery DVD using sony recovery tools. DISC 1 is a bootable DVD and you should be able boot from DISC1. If it doesn't work just double check whether you are trying from DISC1 or DISC2

Does it automatically boot if I just restart with the disc in the drive?

Yes it should, unless you change the "Boot priority sequence". But only DISC1 is bootable in most cases
