Sounds like your system is severely corrupted. You need to do a factory restore...did you make recovery discs?

hey, that's not fair, you edited your question...lol

I would suggest that you might want to do a clean install (if you can), and it'll probably fix your problem for whatever reason the problem was before

Yup, given that you've only put a couple of things on it and it's so new... just use the recovery partition to recover the laptop to factory settings.

The reboot is a result of a BSOD at shutdown time. Diagnosing the culprit would probably take more time and effort than just recovering the laptop to factory settings.

If you recover the laptop and it's still happening, you need to return it or talk to Sony support because it might indicate there's a problem with hardware such as your RAM maybe. :(

lol use the partition for a recovery. Once you do that and it shuts down properly, make youself some recovery discs.

    Thanks for everyones help.

I hope its not the Ram problem... because it came with 3gb and in store I asked them to install up to 4gb of ram.... they took one out and installed a 2 gb ram.

Also .... control panel now wont even open.... how do i do partition recovery?

I did system restore to the earliest one possible.... and it shuts down now alright...is that ok?

You made a big mistake letting them upgrade the RAM...who knows what they put in there...did they even know it has to be 800Mhz?? Microsoft has a standalone memory diagnostic accessible from the boot menu...press F8 during powerup to get the boot menu (same way as getting to restore) and run it.
