I have a new white VGN-NR498E model Sony LT with an Alps touchpad. Problem: after reboot, touchpad settings return to default settings; example: slow scroll speed, tapping off, etc. Running Vista Ultimate w/ SP1

Contacted Sony: told to 1/ uninstall/reinstall driver (didn't work) 2, reset BIOs (nope) 3. do a restore (not going to do this)

I went back to Best Buy where I bought this and checked the display model; it does the same thing with Vista basic and no SP1. Tried 4 different display models at different stores and ALL do the same thing; settings return to default after reboot (and yes, I am hitting the 'APPLY' button!).

this is driving me nuts. anybody have ANY ideas on how to fix this? there is no more recent driver.

    thanks in advance!

My SZ runs fine, also an Alps touchpad.

Maybe you can try an earlier driver?
