Hey guys,
I just bought a sony sz 750 and it came with 2gb of ram. My question is will the 32 bit vista OS recognize 4gb of ram (2 x 2gb sticks)? Or should I use 3gb
(2gb + 1gb sticks)? Other question is will it recognize pc-6400, 5300, 5400? Thanks for any help.![]()

No, the 32 bit will only recognize approx 3.3 GB, You can insert 4GB total though. You will just get 3GB out of it. Thats what i do because you also then get dual channel. Id reccromend going with 4GB, even though you will only use 3.3G approx. it will be dual channel. If its in your budget. The money saver will be the 3GB.
Most likely, i think its 53 or 5400 -

32 bit windows recognizes just over 3GB of ram (can't remember what the exact figure is, google will now). Using 3GB of ram will have you some money. You have to use RAM with the same MHz rating, your SZ probably has 667MHz in it. It is unlikely you can change to a higher ram speed, and is silly to change to a lower one.
My advice: Get a 2GB stick, put it in, and use one of the SZ sticks to get to 3 or 4 GB of ram (I don't know if it has 2x1GB stick or 1x2GB stick). Take whatever ram you have left over and sell on ebay or a similar site. -
My SZ7 came with 2x1GB sticks.
I swapped them for 2x2Gb sticks but if you could also do what jsf suggests. I wanted to give Vista 64 a try for a while with 4GB but now back on Vista 32. Also as ahl395 says, you'll only get the dual channel is using matched pairs.
You could always sell your 2x1GB sticks.
