One of my Z11s dropped from the height of a footstool, straight onto its bottom. I've found no marks of any kind and the computer functions perfectly - except...

Apparently the shock of the impact popped the Esc key off. I have had to re-attach keys on many different keyboards and never had a problem, but this one just won't "snap" back on. I've read numerous guides, seen a couple vids and I'm doing what I always have - what amounts to positioning the key right above its "bed" and carefully but firmly pushed down on the key to get it to center properly and grab on for a firm reattachment. But, no go after easily 15 tries! :(

To be sure that perhaps the impact didn't actually caused some tiny part of Esc the key (or the bed below it) to crack, I carefully removed another key (F11) to see if they looked the same and to see if the F11 key would have the same problems when I tried to re-attach it; it DOES.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I know have two perfectly good keys from he same row that I can't reattach: one very gently removed in the manual's proscribed manner; the other from the impact of the shock to the bottom of the notebook. If you have a good video or set of photos you recommend, I'd be grateful for links.

    Much obliged.

I had my Delete key pop off once. The way that I got it back on was by making sure the plastic bit that is stuck to the bottom of the key is taken off first and then attaching that part back onto the keyboard board (carefully note how it's attached under the key and snap it into the hooks on the board so that it will fit in the same way) and then you should be able to (carefully) snap the key back on.

Be careful not to accidentally remove or break the rubber dome thing that's on the keyboard.

Namaiki, you are awesome! You are a guardian angel. :) :) I can't remember the last time I posted a problem with my Z that you didn't respond to within, it seems, an hour or less, nor have you ever failed to give me the perfect solution. Sounds so easy, but truly, it was not possible to get the key to "grip" the base with the assembly still in the key. +++++1 :D

Also, FYI, I had to flip the hinge over before it would lock into the base.

    Thank you so much.
