Hello forum,
I have a Sony VAIO PCG-K33 which originally comes with 512MB of RAM and can be upgraded to 1GB max. I purchased the ram (2 x 512MB) and installed it in my laptop, but the total memory shown on the computer is only 448MB. This is the same amount or RAM that was showing with the original 2 X 256MB RAM.
I followed whatever steps I thought is right
- I checked each RAM slot, they both work
- I have the correct type of RAM
- I checked the BIOS, it's the most current
- I removed all attachment, connections, external mouse, etc when starting the laptop after installing the new RAM
- I checked every single RAM separately, they both are new and functional
If I install one 256MB or 512MB RAM, the total RAM of 192MB is displayed. If I install 2 x 256MB or 2 X 512MB, it shows 448MB of RAM. I cannot think of anything else. Any advise? Thanks folks

I'm having the exact same problem with my PCG-K13
I'm fairly certain that I'm using this: accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/PC_Gaming_Accessories/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=29&sku=A1155284
maybe it will only read pc 2100 for some reason? -
anyone? i'd like to know if I have to return it and which one to get next time

Did either of you resolve this issue?
