I bought a z690 with a blu-ray recorder for $1550 at SonyStyle. The problem: it connects to my high def Vizio Television, but there is no sound coming out of the television speakers, only the Sony speakers. It says there is an HDMI audio driver but it is not connected, even though it is. Keep in mind - I did upgrade to Windows 7. It was working with Windows Vista.

Has anybody who has upgraded their Z series to Windows 7 come up with a solution for this? I know there has been some talk in the forums, but no solution has been found.

This is a make or break deal for me because if I can't get sound through my televison, I need to return it.

You might have to set your default to HDMI audio. You can do that by right clicking on your speaker at the bottom right and select Playback devices. Be sure to set HDMI as your default. You might have to constantly change this setting back and forth as needed.

Have you tried updated video drivers? I know that to output sound over HDMI you have to have the NVIDIA HDMI audio driver installed, and it comes as a part of the driver package. You can try the drivers from laptopvideo2go and see if that solves your problem, as they're going to be a lot newer drivers than the ones provided by Sony.
