My wireless card sometimes will get disconnected and when i just tap the laptop at the bottom wireless will come back up. Today it doesnt coming back even after i tapped many times. So i decided to open the laptop to see whether there is any loose connection. But i couldnt find where exactly the wirelsess card located in the motherboard. Can somebody please help me to identify where exactly the wireless card for vaio Z590 located in the motherboard? I know there are many old threads which can help me but when i search i am not able to find any. Even if somebody can help me to point to the right thread that will be great.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

The wireless card (most likely a 5100 in your case, being a USA model) is beneath the mid-plate. That's the grey plastic you see when you take off the keyboard assembly.

Getting the mid plate off is a mission as it requires you to handle extremely fragile flex cables (speaker connections among other things). Not to mention the warranty repairers in my case even stripped one screw on the upper left making it quite hard for me to remove it...

As for the location. It's south of the CPU / fan, under the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard. You should be able to see two antennae sticking out and leading away from there (black and white I think it was, or it might be grey).

All that said, check to make sure you're not having a driver issue. That is, if you haven't done this yet, whenever the wireless card stops working, go to DEVICE MANAGER and check it's still there. If it is and you lost your internet connection you might either need to reinstall your wireless driver or worse comes to worst, need a fresh install of windows with the latest Sony drivers.
