    Hi Everyone,

I'm in the market for the new Z series laptop. This will be my first Sony laptop purchase, so I don't know where the best place to buy is.

Any suggestions? and why you recommend that place?

    Thanks!

depends on where you're from, i would recommend sonystyle.com as you can get extra discount with the campus value pack

plus you get the extended warranty if you do.

    www.sonystyle.com

P1 is an excellent choice but...

    1) No On-site warranty for Europe, only 1 year Vaio Care.

    2) No 3G. Only EVDO WWAN.

    3) When you add the VAT, is quite the same price.

Of course if you want really blu-ray or SSD, that in Europe are not even offered is good way to go.

UK is offering 3 year warranty at the moment
    Shipping + insurance = $$$

Do you get 1 year Vaio care in Europe if you buy from P1?

    I did not know this.

This he send me Ivan from P1:

"There is no onsite coverage in Europe, only USA currently".

Too bad eh? I was ready to pull the trigger from them.

But the warranty still holds right? The only thing is P1 won't ship you're notebook back to an address in Europe (but instead only to one in the US) once it's repaired. So if you know someone in the US that problem is solved. More specifically, there's someone on this forum who is helping European purchasers of US notebooks to be the 'US contact person' they need. I believe he asks a fee of $50 or so per time he needs to help.

As far as I know EVDO WWAN = Sprint 3G. I typing this out on my SZ670's 3G connection and have the Z591 on order from P1, with that same feature.

i've dealt with P1, and think they're a great vendor. unless there's a much better deal out there, i'd go with them everytime.
