With the TZ/SZ/Z notebooks we've got some pretty nice premium machines.

What attracted you most to your notebook, what do you do, or what's your 'main' purpose with it - Email, surfing, writing, web design, auto CAD, entertainment?

Is it your main/only computer/desktop replacment. If so do you often hook up to external monitor or do you find the small screen adequate for all you work?

    - for me what attracted me to the Z was the screen, and thin/light form factor.... I own a manufacturing company and a marketing company, I use it for business 90% of the time ...its replaced my desktop, I just plug into a large external monitor when I'm at my desk ... don't travel often anymore ... so it sits mostly on my desk or on my lap in the evening.

Must say I love my Z!

I'm a web developer. So, my tasks include a lot of Photoshop, coding, running multiple Virtual Machines (to test browser compatibility), building Flash, feed reading, performing version, defect and project management, and the typical e-mail and browsing.

The Z is actually not my primary system. I have a desktop workstation at home (Quad-Core beast) and a desktop at work that function as my primary development systems that are used for the grunt work.

The VAIO Z tends to serve as my unifying system and the one system that manages the others and keeps track of any and all communications (via Skype, e-mail, IM, etc.) calendaring, and time management. Using cool programs like Live Mesh, Hamachi and Windows Home Server, I keep a lot of stuff synched between systems so I don't have a single point of failure. Also, when I'm traveling or out of the office, the Z becomes my mobile office and can run all of the stuff I listed above.

It's not as convenient as a dual monitor setup but with the help of virtual desktop software it's almost as good and the 1600x900 screen really helps out so I can have a coding window open and a browser window.

The Z is my "do-everything" machine... I don't have a desktop (although my wife does have a MacBook, but that's more just for fun), so I needed something that could do everything decently well, is durable, portable, and would not get outdated quickly. I also realized that to keep me happy, I needed something that also looked kinda stylish. The Z seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I didn't mind shelling out ~$1,700 to get it if it means I keep it longer...

Anyhow, the primary usage is web surfing, maintaining finances, a little gaming (nothing heavy duty), personal photo/video/other-random-file organization, and that's about it... so perhaps the Z is a little overkill, but at the end of the day I love it.

Most of my Z usage is similar to Taskahi's, if I'm honest. My excuse for the power is that I do a bit of DVD authoring and video encoding on it, and I do a lot of Photoshop photo work. I love my Z. :)
