Hi all. New to this forum, but long time Vaio owner (1999).

My current model is an S270P, which I have had for a while, obviously. I read on another forum about the issue I'm having, but for some reason I don't see how I am having the same problem.

Basically, if it is picked up or moved it will freeze. I don't get blue screens or errors, just total freeze. On like one or two occasions, it has responded SOME after the lock up, but with a black screen and some jibberish randomly. If it sits still, it is fine and pretty much will run indefinitely. It will reboot fine and log into XP without a hitch, like nothing happened. Basically, it will run fine until moved and reboot if it is. It's not totally bad, but kinda defeats the purpose of having a mobile computer. :)

But the issue stated on another forum mentions how the video is making contact with the RAM, but I don't see how that is remotely happening on mine. The board seems fine as I have looked over it with a magnifying glass and have found ZERO issues with sauder or cracks in the board. It really didn't start happening until I swapped out the chassis after it was dropped on the corner of the original, cracking the corner off. However, during the time I had the original chassis in tact, there were no reboot issues, so I believe it has something to do with the replacement chassis and either flex or contact being made. I truly don't think it's from the drop per se, although I could see how there could be a delay in problems, especially since it was dropped.

I have the 9700 ATI chip with it and the standard setup for the 270P series.

If there are any known issues like this I would appreciate any direction to links. Also, if anyone has any pictures of the bottom part of the chassis without the motherboard in, I would REALLY appreciate pics of that. I'm trying to determine if I'm missing something on mine or how it should look.

    Thanks,

    Jon
