I am planning on buying a Sony VAIO Z for college because it seems soo practical. It's expensive, but I have enough saved up to buy one. I was considering a Sony VAIO X, but it appears to be discontinued in the United States. But after looking at the Z, I simply fell in love.

Anyways, what are the usual months Sony "refreshes" the Sony VAIO Z? By the way, I plan to buy the laptop in either late-August or mid-September of this year.

Also does anyone know if Sony is going to equip the Z with a slightly more powerful GPU in the near future or are they going to stick with the 330M for awhile?

New X is coming. Sony is refreshing everything over the next 8 days. The Z is so much better anyhow.

There are no GPU changes. The next Z refresh will be mid September and won't have a GPU change there either. If history repeats itself (it likely will) the Z will have the 330m for the next year or 2.

    Previous experience?

The last-gen Z had a GeForce 9300M GS for a couple years during all the refreshes.

What beaups said sounds pretty reasonable to me.

The X has already showed up. I am not speculating on any of this and I'm not sure why you are attacking me?

Because you're talking about the very important business of internet forums and laptop release news! That and perhaps it's cold in the basement today. Or, his mom is cranky. I dunno, take your pick.

@beaups. I figure with 266 posts, you're not going to be misleading people. But do understand that for some the arrival of new lappies is tantamount to the arrival of a new baby. You're messing with expectations and feelings. :)

He responding to my statement that was deleted by mods.

    Beaups:
Maybe my reaction was a bit harsh in retrospect and I apologize for that. However, there is nothing stopping people from just saying whatever on the internet and you should understand my request for a source. I didn't expect it to be so difficult for you to divulge, I thought maybe you got it from a blog from somewhere. Whether you have 300 posts or 3000 a source is always nice but I guess you are unable to divulge that and thats fine.

Thanks for that, it's all good. Just trying to help everyone out a little and do it in a manner that won't get anyone fired :)

Most of these new sku's are likely now available in many retail stores. Ad embargo for pretty much all the new lineups is this coming Sunday. Everyone's new product questions will be answered then :)
