I really thought i was about to buy a SZ680 configure:
    4gb memory
    200gb 7200rpm
    2.4ghz intel 2 core duo

then i thought, my priority over all is battery life, if i arm this sucker with these configuration, would i demish the battery life to around 2 ish hours?

then i thought how drooling the TZ150 is and that extraordinary battery life everyone is praising about. so i went to P1 and configure a Tz150 with:
    2gb memory
    P1 bloatware removal
    Xp installation

My priorities is most needed - least : battery life, speed, multifunctioning, capacity, etc.....

what do i do? i'hv been back and forth on buying then waiting then buying for sure and then waiting again.

If battery life were my own main priority, that first machine wouldn't be on my list, nice as it seems otherwise.

You're going to have a tradeoff somewhere. To get lighter and arguably more battery life, you sacrifice some speed (or a lot of speed - you'll get killed on the TZ150 with the 4200rpm drive; if you go for a TZ, get one with SSD).

It all boils down to what you do on your laptop. If it's general Office, internet, etc. stuff, not a big deal. If you're crunching serious numbers, you may be limited by the TZ.

from my understanding, the 100gb 4200rpm only plays in effect when turning on the machine and when acessing files right? other then that, everything else is depends on the 1.06ghz processor and the 2gb memory?

im a college junkie so i have plenty of desktop based computer to acess, what i really need is something where i can do research on explorers with multiplye browsers at once and word processor in a quiet, alone spot, isolated area to work. as long as those arn't comprise (being cripling slow) i think my direction is the tz.

You really don't think performance is only processor and memory, right?

ANYTHING THAT ACCESSES YOUR DISK WILL BE S-L-O-W - such as starting programs. If you're Ok with slow boots and shutdowns, and don't care about disk access, go nuts with that 4200rpm drive. More power to you.

Remember that there are always the power schemes in Vaio Power Management to use when you want to make your battery last longer.

I don't think your battery life would drop down to two hours with a new battery.

Doesn't Kickace have a 200 GB 7200 RPM hard drive and 4 GB RAM?

if the sz680 config with 2.4ghz, and 7200rpm, will it be extremely hot?

the 7200rpm drive would probably make it a little warmer than the 5400.

mine can get pretty warm. not hot, but warm, well the battery contributes to that too.

    hey roor,
how hot or warm does your 5400rpm get if u use it for hours continuously?
cuz im gonna need the sz 7200rpm to perform long hours, even if i use the ac adapter for indefinite power source, will the hardware itself of the sz will heat up like the sun?
