    Hi all.
I have ordered (built-to-order) from SonyStyle three laptops within 2 months and all three were with that BUZZING, irritating high pitched noise coming from the left side of FZ-series and from the right side of AR-series laptops...All sent back and refunded in full.
I am really tired and really don't know what to do as to order a VAIO number four from SonyStyle might be the same experience. The only ONE quite laptop from Sony a have at the moment, is the TZ150 I have purchased from one of retailers.
Even my daughters NR is buzzing...
All laptops having that noise are coming with Intel C2D T--- series. Last one was the AR with newest Penryn T9300.
What do you guys think Sony doing? Are they even trying to address the problem?

I am really disappointed and afraid to order VAIO #4.

Have you considered any preconfigured models?

Sorry to hear of all your troubles. As you've said, it's really a problem with Intel CPUs. Some notebook manufacturers seem to have cured the problem with a BIOS update. Maybe Sony can do the same.

As mentioned in the first post, my daughter's NR was purchased pre-configured... No difference...

few things are worse than having to fight these kinds of un-explained problems, and in your case, repeat problems.

I just got an ar790 a week ago and so far perfectly silent...but I will keep my ears open now. It is a real shame that sony leaves themselves to bad press with poor quality control...who knows!

I got my laptop from portableONE...maybe they can help? They changed my hard drives before sending me the laptop, so they were able to check to verify the computer and screen were working 100%.

I tend to buy from stores so it is easy to return, keep us posted, it would be interested to hear sony's official response to this issue

both my old dells and this new sony of mine produce the same sounds...sometime it even interferes with the audio output. My friend's dell is the same. I thought the issue was with the wifi card but i guess not.

I also bought 3 laptops before (hp, sony) and dell (had screen buzzing), returned them. Now my 4th sony vaio is not making that sound. All of friends and family members now call me a freak.

Same thing happened to me with my FJ270b and my SZ340. My SZ360P didn't have the sound. I've currently got a SZ780N5 on order from P1 ----- I told them about my past experiences with electronic buzzing sounds from Sony, and am praying that my new machine won't exhibit the issue.

In any case, I returned two computers to Sony b/c of the issue. Everyone also thought I was crazy, so I can sympathize.

I guess you are one of lucky guys there... BUT, some people don't really hear those noises. If it's a FZ-series, try to put your ear to the left side (edge) of the laptop. I wonder if you would hear anything or it is not that loud.

I think you will get used to that high pitch humming.
