Can anyone please help me? When I close, or put my screen in an other position my right hinge of my Sony S12 cracks. Today I called Sony and they told me it's not in their warranty. But in my opinion it's not my fault. I read something at internet about a macbook with the same problem and the problem of this macbook was the heat which caused this hinge problem.

Does anyone know what to do? How to fix it by myself? Or that I can claim from Sony that they repair it for free? My notebook is almost 3 months old.

This seems to happen to a lot of people. What most of us have been doing to solve it is: open the laptop and tighten the hinge. Eventually though, it does get loose again.

Some have recommended using loctite to prevent this. Next time I open mine I will probably put a little loctite in there to try that.

Good luck with Sony. There opinion is that it's user damage. Break out a screwdriver and fix it yourself. It's not hard.

Well if they say it's user damage, they have to prove it to me. When I fix it myself, my warranty of 2 years will stop. So this is not a solution for me. As I said, user damage okay but prove it to me, if there is no prove I will not pay for it.

^You are arguing w/the wrong people (ie preaching to the choir). The people you need to convince are at Sony, not us ;)

Why would it stop your warranty? There's no sticker over the screws saying that if you open it up that it violates your warranty. If that's what Sony intends, then they should put a seal on it like many other manufacturers. Let them prove that it's been opened.
