I use my laptops docked most of the time with an external monitor and keyboard -- I'd like to run my SZ with the lid down while docked to minimize dust.

Anyone know if running this machine with the lid down may cause heat to build up? Don't want my laptop to die prematurely because of excess heat.

    Thanks,

It really shouldn't be a problem. This is the coolest running notebook I have ever used. I have leftthe lid down, and didn't notice any difference.

As stated, it should not be a problem. While the conduction cooled surface obviously is nearly cut in half, this is fairly well ofsetted by the decrease in consumption by the panel and it's backlight.

Thanks to you all for your replies. Nice to have the peace of mind that I'm not setting my new SZ on fire. Very nice machine, by the way. I really like the variety of options that control CPU performance vs. power consumption.
