    Hello Group!! Still going through a learning curve.......limited knowledge!
    I am selling my 3yr old notebook ..sony vaio.........want to completly clear everything except the original products that came with notebook when i purchased..........NOT A CLUE HOW TO CLEAN UNIT.........thanks...alan

    Well, do you have any sort of Restore Discs ?

    The easiest thing will be to buy a similar HDD as the current one and install that before selling.

    I don't know if your system has it (it is there for my TT). Look into system recovery and see if there is a choice to clean your harddrive and prepare it for sale. If you are lucky, just run it, if not, do a complete system recovery, i.e. turn off computer, turn it on and hot F10. System will reformat hard drive and install OS again.

    Hey alansmith,
    I would strongly reccomend that you remove and reuse or destroy the hard drive currently in your Sony before you sell it. Even reformatted hard drives can still leave your critical information behind. There is software available to overwrite (scrub) your hard drive which is supposed to be bulletproof. Due to the low cost of a laptop hard drive I prefer to destroy the old one to leave nothing to chance.
