Hello, I have issues with my keyboard as of now with two keys, and also, it seems the keyboard was improperly seated. So, I want to get it serviced by sony since I am under warranty...

    HOWEVER,

I also wanted to change my color from WHITE to BLACK, b/c i'm a dirty guy most of the time and the white just isn't working out for me...

so, I was wondering, since I have to get the keyboard replaced (which would be free since its under warranty) how could I convince sony to replace the palm rest, mouse touch pad, and keyboard to BLACK ones without additional charge?

I know it may not be "right" but there were no WHITE sony FZ laptops on display anywhere...barely any pics online of it when I first ordered it! only the black ones...

I was thinking of these reasons to say to Sony Reps:

    1. "Could I also get the palm rest and mouse pad unit replaced as well for black ones, because I meant to select BLACK when i ordered, but accidently selected white. I didn't think it would be an issue until i actually used the laptop"

    or like..

    2. "I just am not satisfied with the color I have"

    Any advice?

If you have the accidental damage protection plan, spill some wine on the keyboard! :D

oh yes, thanks for reminding me! i just found it this morning...

    http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web...rchOperation=modelSearch&searchText=VGNFZ190N

that also includes replacement of bezel, palm rest, ect..

so.. If I wanted to change the color I would prob have to pay 170, BUT there are ALREADY EXISTING issues with the keyboard i have now..it makes no sense to have it replaced under warranty for free, then have them change the entire thing over again to black parts for 170 dollars...

Unless it's still under the return policy, they're not going to let you randomly replace parts because you don't like the way it looks. If anything, tech support and customer service is stingy. You're just going to have to live with what you have. Get the keyboard replaced if it's faulty, bring up the palmrest and hope for the best.

so I went into my bmw dealer and told them that I had a problem with the radio. while I was there, I told them that I didnt like the red leather, so Id like it changed to black, and while they are at it, change the carpeting, dash and headliner as well.

i doubt sony will change parts that arent faulty and they will replace the faulty part with the same one. you can try and ask, cant hurt

Maybe a keyboard protector will help you some?

    Hi Duke!

If you still have your white keyboard and still want it changed to black,
you might want to consider to have it serviced and get back to me, -
as I have a brand new black one in a just bought FZ Laptop, - never used so far,
    - and would love to have it exchanged to a white set. - Unfortunately,
Sony is out of white palm rests (the other part with the touch pad included),
and they are not able to give me an estimated time of re-arrival...
So, - if your white keyboard is still in decent shape & recognizable as white
(at least after some cleaning), - PLEASE get back to me...! ...:)

    Best,

    B.Livya.

I like the white keyboard better on the FZ...IMHO. Just wash your hands before you use your notebook!
