I have been agonizing over a new laptop choice for some time now, and I think I've settled on the F series as I H-A-T-E glossy surfaces. ARRRGH! Anyway, are there any current Vaio F users out there who are running AutoCAD 2010, Inventor 2010 and/or Solidworks who can comment on the performance of these applications on the Vaio F? I'm planning on ordering directly from Sony, as I want 8 GB of RAM, the 1920x1080 screen and a 7200 rpm HDD. Thanks in advance for any/all informed replies!

I use Autocad and 3ds Max Design with my F11. It's a great notebook for it.
All I can say is that autocad performs well. I don't know of any way to benchmark Autocad. I had a file I worked on sometime ago. It was only about 10mb but it had complete Construction plans, Furniture plans, Electrical plans, Elevations, Sections, TONS of details (classical 10,000sq.ft house), about 6 embedded hi-quality images, and well over 40 layout tabs. In short, it was an extremely messy file worked on by a couple of my interns to which I had to take over and cleanup. The F11 with my specs made short work of it in no time with zero lags in redraw, refresh, zoom, tab selections etc.

I did benchmark 3ds Max and you can check my posts in the F11 owners thread for a idea of Nvidia's GT330M's performance with Mental Ray rendering.

Edit: I would recommend the 64bit versions of the software as it is optimized to make use of the F11's hardware.
