Ok so I did a clean install of Windows 7 and I was surprised that almost everything is working out of the gate. There are only a few bugs that I've noticed.
1.) The Fn functions in the F-keys don't work. Which driver do I need for that?
2.) Same thing goes for the Mode - - - - - Settings keys above that. Which driver fixes that?
3.) In the device manager I have and unknown "Base System Device" with the Location of "PCI bus 7, device 3, function 2". What is this/How do I fix it?
4.) The touchpad doesn't scroll. I tried installing the driver from the Sony eSupport page, but it failed. (I reinstalled and rebooted and it's working)
And not a bug, but just a straight up question...
5.) Should I install Sony Shared Library? Do I need it for anything? I really don't plan on installing any of the programs that came pre-installed with Vista, unless it's necessary.
Thanks!

Until (or if) Sony supplies a full set of Windows 7 drivers for the earlier SR's you can get the Vista versions (32 or 64 bit as appropriate) of the following from Sony: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGN-SR240N®ion_id=1
FirmwareExtParser
Sony Shared Libraries
Notebook Utilities
Install them in the order shown above and you should be good to go. They work for me on my SR290 with Win 7 64bit. -
i can't get the brightness key working...
LOL... it says "Evena fter installing this file, the Brightness, Monistor Ouput and Zoom Function Keys may not work." >_>
So um... how do i change brightness then manually? -
click on th brightness icon in the task bar it wiil give option for adjusting screen brightness
-
also.. the mode button, setting button, and the 5 button isn't working as well X_X
the - - - - - setting keys absolutely doesn't work atm... and I am going to wait till someone figures them out since the driver on the esupport page is garbage...
How do I get function keys to work on SR420 after Clean Windows 7 install?
