I am thinking of buying FZ4000 CTO. I will configure it with XBRITE HiColor. When I receive it, how do I know that they don't make a mistake and send me XBRITE ECO instead?

I have nothing to compare, except perhaps my SZ381P with XBRITE with LED Backlight.

The color of ECO screens are overly saturated .you will never find a position where colors look normal.the worst display in the world in my opinion .I myself have one FZ340 which I don't know how to get rid of or correct the problem.

No, you've got that backwards. The colors of the XBrite-ECO are correct; it's the colors of the XBrite-HiColor which are terribly oversaturated! Even using a Spyder2 I was not able to get rid of the cartoonish greens and reds. Sony really needs to include a desktop saturuation control in the nVidia adapter interface.

OK, I am getting ready to configure one - which is it? Seems to me BAT has it right franki got it backwards (based on the description of each in CTO). Correct?

GO to a store and check them out if you are not sure...HiBrite are visibly superior...in my opinion.

I now agree, vro8j, as BAT must have a bad one. I was just at Fry's looking at all of Sony's computers and the HiColor was in the FZ and AR configurations I believe. It was sweet.

There are FZ without HiColor (oops) screens but it is definitely the superior technology.

OK, spoke to Fry's guy, he said that the AR there had the best monitor and believed it was HiColor. BAT is the only person I see complaining about HiColor - some other threads here complain about ECO. Think I'll go with HiColor and just adjust.

I have an XBRITE HiColor screen, too, and I love it. It's true that the reds and greens will jump out at you, but you can get used to it. The amazing blacks are worth it, IMO.

Don't forget, too, that if you find the XBRITE screen too bright, you can always adjust it down using the fn+F5 keys. When I'm running on battery, I actually adjust my screen brightness all the way down to zero to save power, and it's still perfectly readable. With the ECO screen, if you think it's not bright enough, you're stuck -- that's all the brightness you can get.

^ Thanks - I agree, you can always turn it down. I just returned a 3 day old Dell 1720 because I could not turn it UP high enough. Was sooo disappointed sitting there looking at my 3 year old VGN-FS550 and the brand new Dell and the Dell looked like crap! Shoulda known better....
