I can't seem to turn on my wireless receiver. The switch is in the on position and I use the VAIO PC Wireless LAN wizard diagnostic. It tells me
Software WLAN Switch is off
Your software wireless LAN switch is off. VAIO PC Wireless LAN Wizard is unable to determine which application enabled wireless LAN. Please enable wireless LAN before proceeding.
What is "Software WLAN switch"? There is a plastic switch on the front of the laptop with "Wireless LAN" written above it, it is in the ON position. I don't know what is being referred to by "Software WLAN switch". How do I enable it? I really miss the simplicity of Intel Proset's Utility.

If the physical wireless switch is turned on but the indicator light for WLAN is not lit, Wireless Lan may be disabled in the VAIO Smart Network utility.
Follow the procedure below to enable Wireless LAN in the VAIO Smart Network utility.
Double-click the VAIO Smart Network icon [FIG. 1] in the system tray.
NOTE: If the system tray icon is not available, open the VAIO Smart Network utility .
In the VAIO Smart Network window, click the indicator button [FIG. 2] next to WLAN .
NOTE: When Wireless LAN is enabled, the indicator button [FIG. 3] will display a green light.
