I've looked through BIOS, I've gone through programmes such as speedfan and I still cannot control the fans on this system.

I've discovered my fans are not faulty, whenever the CPU temp goes above 51oC, the fans will gently blow until the temp goes down to 49oC, needless to say it can be pretty annoying in a quiet room, they kick on every 20-40 seconds.

I spoke to Sony about this and they said it was just operating how it should, as long as there are no scratching, scraping, grinding noises it is working how they designed it to.

I know for a fact 50oc isn't hot at all for a machine, but I have no way of increasing the temperature warning for the censors in the fan.

this Vaio uses the Athlon Dual Core Processor.

any ideas what I could do? do you think there is a problem going on here?

    Go to Vaio Control Center

Under Power Management -> Power Options

    Adjust the Thermal Control Strategy.
