I just want to clarify I have no intention of starting a flame war here, I just want some peoples honest opinions about their personal expierences when dealing with Sony notebooks.
Here is my personal expierence rating for my E series Vaio.
Build quality and integrity
For Sony's cheapest consumer notebook, I can't fault them with the E, no flex in the palmrest, strong hinges (the body gets pulled up if you don't hold it down) and could probably fare some mild punishment. 8/10
Speed and specifications
I bought a Vaio with an AMD Athlon Dual core processor, it is very speedy and it can do all the basic tasks, however my model does not have dedicated graphics therefore cannot play most modern 3D games, that doesn't bother me though, just an interesting side note they added "gateway" to the desktop which works like how a mac toolbar does, pretty handy, their are buttons near the power button for maintenance and support. 8/10
Dislikes?
The fan is LOUD! at times but when wearing earphones and playing music you cannot hear it.
Overall, I'd give my personal expierence so far 8/10, it is a nice laptop for the price.

Loving my F11 to death. Well, I hope not to death. I want it to last.
Specs listed in my sig.
Build Quality:
Fantastic. A little weak near the optical bay, that that has sturdied up since I replaced it with a HDD caddy. Most bestest keyboard I've ever worked with and love to type with it
Is it wrong that I feel s3xy when I type on one of these keyboards? I hope not.
Speed:
I installed my own SSD, so it's super fast. It was plenty fast before. Very responsive and applications didn't hang.
Dislikes:
Would prefer a better GPU, something a bit more powerful, as I'm limited on certain games. -
From a computer technicians standpoint, Sony laptops are usually the worst to work on/most difficult to take apart.
-
^ very easy to take apart. just difficult to put it back.

I'm like Qwaarjet... 100 out of 10 for my Z... Z hugger for life

I wish their 14 and 15-inch laptops were more powerful, but Sony is all about the extremes.

ME + MY Z = LOVE 4 EVER
I treat her more than anything else, yet she gives me everything I wish from performance when I touch her to quality every time I look at her. Now I intend to keep her just to rest at home letting her to complement my needs while depending heavily on my i7 desktop and lenovo x100 while traveling and mobile usage mainly. My Z would escort me in some occasions. It's so romantic -
My previous generation Z and my current generation Z are the best notebooks I've owned. Portability, power, integrated 3G, excellent keyboard, superb screen - what's not to like?

An old Sony C series (2007)
A Sony FW (2009)
A Sony W series (2010)
A Sony EA Series (2010)
All still going strong - The Old C needed a new hard drive. The FW got a SDD and Processor Upgrade
The W got a SSD.
Good quality screen, nice keyboards and overall good product. I'll keep buying them as long as they perform. -
I like the looks of my TZ....light/portable...does everything I need...
