I tried to go see a Z in person but Best Buy had none. They had another Sony laptop and frankly the screen was poor, with terrible light output and I checked to see if it was plugged in and had brightness cranked up. I have to think the Z has a different quality screen but wanted to hear it first here.

The brightness by default is controlled by the VAIO Control Center program. If you turn off the automatic adjusting, you can crank it up manually to be super bright.
Did the Z's you saw have the horizontal line problem? -
After i turn on/off auto brightness control in vaio control center the brightness control is gone you can't adjust brightness anymore (both fn key and in power option) did anyone have same power with me ?

That's ridiculous. I've seen the Z in a few Best Buys.
