    Hi,

I'm pretty bad with computers, but I was wondering how many sticks of RAM a VAIO SR could hold.

I'm thinking about purchasing an SR with 3 GB (1x1GB + 1x2GB) and just add another 1GB stick (a friend mis-purchased a laptop RAM thinking its a desktop RAM and gave it to me). However, I'm not sure if there's room in the notebook to insert one more RAM.

    Thanks!

Almost all 15" (and up) laptops sport only 2 RAM slots, thus you would need to buy a 2GB stick and replace the 1GB module with it for a total of 4GB. Also, in order to address 4GB of RAM, you will need a 64-bit operating system.

That is excluding the possebility of hardware adressing additional RAM above 3GB.

Yes, but presumably someone upgrading to 4GB of RAM wants to make full use of their upgrade.
