I see that the 1920x1080 screen option on the VAIO Z gives 96% adobe gamut, so how much does the 16x9 display have?
thanks

If you have the computer on you, you check what screen is used and search for a datasheet.

In the Hong Kong website the VPCZ135GG (with 1600x900 display) states that it covers 100% NTSC color coverage, but there's no mention about the Adobe RGB. The VPCZ138GG/VPCZ139GG with the 1080p display both mention about having 96% Adobe RGB coverage. I guess it's somewhat less (certainly not equal to) than the 1080p since if it were the same it would've been advertised the same as well.

That said, the "100% coverage" is meaningless in practice, because it's a 6-bit display that can only display 262144 distinct colours, some of which will be outside this gamut (plus dithered approximations of other colours).
Also, "100%" is open to interpretation -- it can mean 100% of the area, i.e. that the gamut should be at least as large, which qualifies even if it's skewed and a large part of the reds, for example, can't be shown. -
thanks for that exact link!
it appears that the 1080p display might be showing more distinct colours!
