    I'd say give or take $500 and i rate it 3 for the specs
    My advice: do not sell it. You won't get much from it.

    So seb you rate it 3? Why would you say that? Is it really that bad? Is it technical problem or just because old? I did not want to tell you this but I just bought second hand used for $700 USD. Did I get bad deal? I am first time notebook purchaser. Now I feel really bad...--;;

    I'd rather be honest with you. $700 is expensive for old technology, even if it comes from Sony :rolleyes:

    I rated it 3 because:
    1. It is a Pentium 4 Mobile :eek:verheat: , not even a centrino
    2. 256MB memory. 512MB is today's norm
    3. Poor battery life. 1.5hrs is ridiculous as compared to more generous 3hrs with newer tech
    4. 16MB Ati 7500 :eek:
    5. 7.9 lbs is too heavy
    6. 2" too thick
    7. CDRW/DVDROM, not even DVDRW
    8. XGA - Poor resolution, now we have SXGA with 1400x1050

    Your lappy is still okay for everyday use, but battery life ain't that good :(

    Sorry for the bad news :(

    I would have to agree with Seb. It's not that anything is wrong with your laptop but it is 2 year old technology. I recently sold a Pentium M based laptop that got a decent 3+ hours of battery life with a 1.76 for right around 600 so it's definately below that.

    Don't feel bad at all for spending 700 on a computer. It's just part of the game. A newer computer would just mean you woiuld loose more money long term. Many of us just plunked down 2500 for a SZ160 that will be worth about half that in 6 months. Just spend a bit of time on some educaation and research and you will be fine from here on out in your notebook buying experiences. Next time you will get exactly what you want or a really good deal for the extra work.

    celeron is slower than p4. You dont see p4's on lite, smaller laptops. Unless they're the big desktop replacements.
    Regular notebooks usually carry Pentium M (centrino) and now core duo processors.

    Don't get confused between the desktop processors, low power variants and the low powered notebook processors. It's like this

    Celeron < Pentium 4 - Desktop Processors

    And

    Pentium 4 M - Low powered versoins of the Desktop Processors

    and

    Celeron M < Pentium M - Notebook Processors

    However, you can't directly compare notebook and desktop chips because they are funamentallly different architectures. In general the notebook processors are equivelent to a desktop processor (Celeron, P4) running approximately 1Ghz faster so a Pentium M running at 1.8 is similar to a Desktop Pentium 4 running at around 2.8-3.0

    okay celeron is slower than p4 but it's liter...and P4 is faster than celeron but havier...so is that mean systematically and fuctionally P4 is better than celeron but inconvience because it's havier to carry?? I am sorry is that make sense? --;;

    A recent Pentium M will be faster than a Pentium4 M in almost all areas. But these are two totally different architectures once again.

    Will have to disagree with the first comment. PM are definitely better in battery life but not in "all areas". I say this because I have tested my laptop against my other IBM PM. Note I have Pentium 4 HT 2.8Ghz and a Pentium M 1.83 Ghz.

    Also Celeron have NO and I repeat NO comparison with a pentium 4 and pentium M.

    Like I said in "almost" all areas. The higher clocking P4 will be faster in applications and benchmarks where only CPU frequency counts. But I'm not so sure you have the Mobile version of the P4 in your laptop which you were comparing - correct me if I'm wrong
