    How much is a new TZ mobo kit?

    as described on the last page of this thread, i had a disaster in trying to install my own ssd. as I opened it, i accidentally tore the orange ribbon cable connecting the top and bottom of the TZ.

    the local repair shop here told me sony wouldn't send them just that ribbon, and would only give it to them bundled w/ the mobo kit. as a compromise, they sent it to them in san diego to see if it would be covered under the warranty.

    i'm guessing it's not going to be covered. does anyone here have any idea how much that kit is going to run me?

    depends on what speed processor your computer was. my guess is between $800-1200. and of course labour to get it installed would be more too.

    i would consider trying to find a new cable from some other computer, checking other shops to see if they have one for you. i hope the ribbon is generic and not some special sony cable
