    How much ram can the CR read?....

    I just put in 4 gig of ram in my CR-490 and it only reads 3061 megs of it? how come sony put up to 4 gig in the cto option but it can even read 3 gigs....

    Windows 32bit can address 4 Gigs of Ram total. Other things in your system besides your ram are using part of that 4GB, such as your Videocard which is using 128mb+Hypermemory(700mb or user adjusted). Plus other things in the system use ram as well...not sure what.

    So, yes, you have dual channel support and 4gb of ram, but windows can only effectively use/address 3.061 GB or ram.

    Yeah, if you are using a 32 bit OS, you won't utilize all 4 GB that you have in your system in the way that you would expect it to. ;)
