I haven't found any description on how to take out a broken LCD screen and replace it on a vaio tz21. I have done it before on a Vaio VGBN S18-GP but that was straightforward. The TZ21 is totally different in the way the lid is made. I can unsnap three sides of the rim with my nails. No screws hidden under rubber plugs. However the bottom is still attached and since I don't know how, I don't dare to force it.

With the three sides of the rim loose the LCD panel is actually free except for at the bottom. Somebody knows how to proceed?

Edit: Take off the battery. Unsnap the rim on the bottom side of the lid. Now the rim onlyt attaches at the hinges. It looks as if one has to remove the hinge caps to take the rim of completely. Removing the hingecaps is described in this thread:

I didn't do it yet but coming this far it allows me to see that the screen is marked LTD111EWAX.

This is a Toshiba 11.1 inch screen which is available from vendors for about 440 USD. With 21 percent VAT for importing to Belgium, this puts the price at 391 euros excl. freight. That's a lot less than the 862 euros that Sony asks for replacing a cracked screen.

Screenintec wants 425 USD for the screen and 40 USD for Fed Ex to Europe.

Is there any guide available on how to replace the screen? It appears that the screen can now be bought, eg on ebay
