    How to enable advanced BIOS options in SZ2XP?

    It seems that DVDRW of our SZ2XP just died. The symptoms are 1 min 20 sec
    bios boot up time and no power on DVDRW. After that long boot up WinXP
    loads up and works fine, but I can not even open the DVDRW door, due to no
    power. I will take it to the service but I still have some work to finish before
    that.

    When I check the BIOS, there is no option to play with IDE device detection.
    If it is possible to enable advanced settings, I hope to disable the related IDE bus and use the computer for a while.
    Does anybody have any idea how to do that?

    I think that's not possible. Sony had Phoenix locked most of their BIOS option. However, you can flash the ROM to enable some option like VT and AHCI through Phoenix Tools, but that's tricky and require a lot of trial and error. Try this thread
