This morning my "Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-852S" optical drive on my SZ460 decided to not be recognized by Vista. Booting from the drive worked but windows didn't recognize it and gave a code 39 corrupt failure of the driver or something like that.

I've been searching for a fix on here and saw that many people have had this same issue and it's pretty crappy. I tried restores, complete backup restores, and nothing fixed it. Possible source of problem is un-installing Roxio burning software.

    Found the info here:
    http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=27&threadid=2031393

Here is the link to how to fix the problem:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/320553

Hope this helps a lot of people because I've been freaking out all day.

Thanks Transfer. You don't have to put keywords in posts...the search engine automatically looks at all the words on its own. I know some forums require you to add in keywords...
