Can't be done, I've tried native using EFI / Bios hack and even the EFI boot loader in VMware and Virtual box. It works on Dell and Alienware laptops but no the Z series.

cant be done on it properly or at all

1 the ONLY RAID OSX supports is their raid card on the Mac Pro
2 hybrid graphics are not supported with nvidia at this time, only the old 9400/9600 switching

now osx WILL install on a large number of other systems, I have it on an 8740w, and have put it on acers, dells, asus, hp consumer etc. the more basic and vanilla the system the better to try and run OSX on

for more info hit up the osx86 project

It can be done just fine (sans wireless and you get static (nvidia only) graphics). But this discussion will get you banned here.

    OK My bad.

Flash custom bios, switch to AHCI mode. Parition a disk properly with GPT (keep in mind this sometimes bricks the vaio, in which case you'll need to physically disconnect the array, boot into bios, switch back to raid, replug in the array, reboot and start over). It may be easier to modify the OSX install to support MBR if you know how. The random GPT bug stinks. In fact, if you are really good with OSX hacking you can add the RAID hardware id's to the necessary plists in your osx install and as long as you break the raid array it will work fine with the controller in raid mode. Bummer here is any update will break the system if you forget to remodify plist prior to reboot.

Switch bios to static switching, boot in SPEED mode. Actually, back when I did it I had to boot in stamina mode (VESA support) and after the install and all the updates I could boot in speed mode for QE/CI. This is probably irrelevant for newer OSX versions.

Replace wifi card with a compatible card.

When I did this ~18 months ago I had everything working except brightness controls. Full QE/CI on the nvidia card.

If you need a DSDT, PM me. I may still have it.

sweet, my z currently has the hacked bios with broken raid; am using one 128gb drive for OS and the other for data as this setup is more convenient for me. Is there a way to install OSX to the data drive (I'll move everything to an external since its mostly junk) and have a boot menu at startup to select either the OSX or windows. Does this setup have any risks related to the GPT bug mentioned above. I tried hackintoshing this laptop last year when I bought it and eventually gave up since it wasn't stable. hopefully this time with your DSDT.aml, i should be golden. thanks

Last I tried, the internal panel wouldn't work. Likely the old SNC issue that plagued older vaios.

I got it to get all the way to the setup using Unibeast + safe mode, but then, it asked me to plug in a keyboard so I couldn't get any further.

Pardon me if this sounds annoying, but what is the appeal of running OSX on a non-Apple machine?

Some users like osx? Apple doesn't offer any models like the Z, as you are well aware of :) There's also just the general "because I can" factor (the challenge).

You need to have all the PS/2 kexts in your boot disk. Also, there's an IRQ conflict that needs resolved in DSDT first. IIRC the RTC IRQ's conflict with PS/2 and the HPET IRQ's conflict with the USB ports. You need a good DSDT to install.

I have about 7 operating systems on my Z13, need for work and personal things. Leopard is one of them runs in VMwave totally nicely. You will not be able to install it into VMWave but you can download prepackaged one (Hackingtosh)..
