I have ordered FS840W and it wud be here soon :) .This machine comes with a meek XP-HOME and i have a licenced cd of Windows XP Media center edition with me (from my desktop). Hence I intend to wipe my lappy clean, get rid of all infamous bloat-ware, and install a fresh XP Media Center on it. Is this possible? If yes, how will I get all the drivers that make the Vaio work? I suppose that whatever drivers Sony will provide in the recovery partition would be for XP Home.

Those, and i suppose it should be many, guys who have done reformating of their hard disk and installed a different OS version from the original, just let me know how to go about it and where to find all the drivers etc. for the new OS which can make the machine work without a hitch after formatting.

    Thanks,
    Oval

you can basically find most of the drivers on the sony website.

however, i would recommend when you get your sony notebook, use the VAIO RECOVERY CONSOLE to make a recovery DVD. the utility will put all the drivers as well as the proprietory software on the Disc. it will be an excellent source for your drivers and a backup incase the XP MEdia Centre doesnt not work out for you.

also, XP drivers are universal, regardless of version (home, pro, media)
