Is there anyway? I found myself accently clicking that instead of "run..." and its getting annoying.
-
I don't have that. Maybe I right clicked and deleted it long ago?
-
right clicking it only shows a context menu that runs it. It might be only on some models. I cant figure out a way to remove it.
-
i also don't have that in my start menu. was that option there from the first time you used it? maybe it was an option in a vaio setting you turned on?
-
I have a sz110 and its there. Can anyone with the same notebook confirm this?
-
If you right click on the Start button, select Properties, then Customize, then the Advanced tab, you can change alot of features pertaining to your start menu.

Thanks, Im aware of that, however, the Vaio Support is not part of windows so you cant turn it off through there.

No, you can't simply delete a top-level Start menu item of this type through any of these suggested methods (right clicking for a context menu, Start Menu properties etc....)
But it's not hard; you just need to delete a Registry Key.
***Warning*** Be careful; deleting the wrong thing (a wrong key, or say, an entire hive) in the Registry can damage your system's configuration and mess you up like, real bad, cousin. Just in case, you may want to make a backup of the Registry database first.
Here's how you delete the unwanted VAIO Support Central Item from the Start menu:
1) Run RegEdit
2) Search for the exact name of the item in the tree. You should only find one key containing this text.
3) Delete the entire key that contains the item with the text (it contains only a couple of items, if I remember correctly).
4) Close RegEdit and Restart.
That should do it.
