Hello I have a Sony vaio vpcm120al netbook, which seems windows got corrupted, not it won't boot and it gets stuck with chkdsk forever..., I want to recover the files and format.

I tried with linux usb live and I couldn't get the files from windows nor mount the drive, what would you recommend me?

I tried f8 and I didn't get the safe mode or recovery for this netbook.

I would be thankful for any help I receive, thanks!

Ok I tried linux usb, when trying to mount the drive it gives me an error of ntfs_attr_pread_i: and it suggest me to run chkdsk /f, but I can't do that :S
So I'll take it to sony, instead.

Basically it refuses to boot anything so the MBR might be fubared? Could be worth sticking it into an external caddy and plugging it into another computer as that might be able to access the files you want. I'm a little doubtful this would work as it is essentially the same as mounting it via a livedisk, but it won't hurt trying it...
