I just received an SZ battery that has never been used since new. When inserted into an SZ and power is applied, the yellow indicator LED generates double blips. It's evidently fully discharged.

Is there a way to revive it?

If not, I'd like to crack open the case and install new matched cells. If anyone has done that, how did they get the case open? What cells are in there (18650, I would expect).

    Thanks

I highly recommend against that, as that could not only be dangerous to you, but could damage your computer. A battery is not something I would be cheap on to be honest. It's more expensive, but I'd just buy a new battery from Sony. I know it's not what you probably want to hear, but that's the only recommendation I could ever make about laptop batteries.

One other thing that often fails in the Sony batteries is the micro PCB. There is a chip in the battery and I could not find it anywhere on the net so if you do break it open, changing the cells may not fix the problem. Just a thought?
