I recently purchased a battery on ebay for my old vgn-s26. And when i plug it in.. its as if no battery is there. I was told from the seller that your need to configure the laptop so that it recognizes non OEM battery. How do i do that?

Probably an unsupported BIOS hack. Either that, or he is trying to get you to not file a complaint for him sending you a bad battery. Send it back.

Switching off the ISB utitility in Autostart should do the trick.

    Nothing illegal in that.
