I am about to buy a Sony SZ and I have to check it manually at the store before bringing it home. How to distinguish between a refurbished and a new one?

Someone told me that a refurbished one had only 90 days warranty. Is it true? If yes, can anyone show me the warranty card of either the refurbished or the new one?

The store should be under some type of law to tell you whether it is refurbed or not if you ask, it should also be marked on the price card.

If they aren't willing to tell you the truth regarding the laptop, don't buy it from there.

I'm Vietnamese, and it's so sad to say that it's kind of chaos here in laptop market. Anyway, I have to buy a laptop for working and by all means, checking is a must before I could bring it home. I cannot trust any seller at any store :(, so please help me!

Check the VAIO club authorisation... Serial number is individual and if anyone use it, you can't login VAIO club...

refurbished item should be clearly labeled in a non-retail box. Usually a white or brown box with ony brand name Sony and a word refurbished. Also, if you look right next to the serial #, you should find the word "refurbished", "recondition" or "recertified".
