I noticed that last night when I put my Sony Z on standby the Amber colored light indicator still blinking in the morning. Isn't this draining power? Why would it continuously blinking? Any work around to actually turn it off?

    Thank you in advance,

The only workaround is to have it enter hibernation after a while on standby. And considering that the Z takes longer to resume from hibernation than it takes to boot normally from shut off(!), that's not a good solution.

I hate that light -- it means I can't just place the Z on my nightstand and go to sleep, because the flickering orange light simulates a fire once it's reflected off a wall or two.

An LED uses an inconsequential amount of power, so I don't think that will greatly affect battery drain during standby. Your sticks of RAM would use more power.

    Yepp :)

LED power consumption - don't worry.

Also, its a warning to you that your laptop is in standby.
I had somehow removed the battery from my SZ while in Standby... not a healthy thing.

Black gaffers tape works wonders and won't leave behind any residue when removed and it won't void the warranty! ;) :D

For the webcam light, yes, gaffer tape is perfect.
For the power light, no. Try it, and see what happens :)
