I have Sony Vista Express Upgrade DVD that Sony sent to me for free as part of their Vista Upgrade Program. Before upgrading, the program asked me to upgrade the BIOS. I don't want to do that since there doesn't seem to be a way to downgrade the BIOS to its original version. The original version of the BIOS is not available in the Sony website. Moreover, I have no intention to use Vista for good. I just want to see what it looks like and I will go back to XP after I am done with Vista.

So, how do I upgrade to Vista without upgrading the BIOS? When I declined to upgrade the BIOS, the Vista upgrade program simply quit.

I don't think you can install Vista without the bios upgrade, but even if you upgrade the bios you should be able to go back to XP with the new bios without any problems. I would just let it upgrade the bios it won't hurt anything, Good Luck!!.

I heard that the new BIOS would reserve more RAM as part of Video Memory which means less RAM for the rest of the system, is that true? Is it possible to adjust the amount of RAM shared as Video Memory in the new BIOS? How about Sony XP Utilities, would they get freak out and refuse to install or run after seeing the new BIOS is very different with the one they expect?
