I've seen numerous people saying its not possible to install ubuntu on the new FZ series. This is not exactly true.

Before I explain how to go through with the installation I should warn you that once installed you WILL have difficulty with the following:

Wireless (NDISWrapper is buggy, open source drivers are buggy)
    Function-keys
Getting cd-rom drive recognized (there is a workaround supposedly but it does not allow for DMA)
    Media keys
    Suspend/Resume
    Headphone jack
and probably more I can't think of right now

Also, I take no responsibility if you break your computer. This has worked for me and other people.

Installing Ubuntu on FZ190 with Blu-ray/Nvidia graphics

    1. If you are getting error:

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

Then you need to start-over and go back to the page where you start/install ubuntu. At this page press F6 and remove the booting options (there should be 3 of them) Add the booting option "break=top" and continue with the install. You will arrive at a prompt called initramfs. Type "modprobe piix" and press enter, it will do some stuff. Then type "exit" and press enter.

    2. If you get an error about x not able to launch
It will kick you out to a prompt. Use nano or vi to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change the graphics driver from "nv" to "vesa". Save this and start x.

Now you can install, and the real fun begins :)
