    " Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 "

From what I understand, RAM and the Graphics Card are crucial to good Vista performance. Anyone have experience with the VAIO CR or NR lines?

Vista runs fine even on the previous GMA 950 graphics, including Aero effects so
    not a problem.

People, please stop thinking Vista is Crysis. Vista is an operating system. Yes it does take more resources than XP, but it's not THAT bloated.

thats definitely true (it will play flawlessly on at least a t7300 w 2gb ram -- what i had) -- i guess my point was that the gfx chipset is pretty robust

I always have the visual effects set to best performance (with the exception of smooth screen fonts) because I prefer the appearance. I then have no problem with Vista's graphics even on the Sony G11 with the U1500 and GMA950.

If you dont run games there is no need to switch to the nvidia card.
